Before coming to Pemetic I taught 4th grade on Vinalhaven, K-5 Science in North Carolina, taught at the North Carolina Museum of Life and Science and traveled widely doing science field research. I also enjoyed managing an independent bookstore that focused on travel books and maps. At times I also led wilderness trips on the Appalachian Trail and Delaware River, taught rappelling and facilitated a ropes course. Variety is the spice of life, and I enjoy encouraging students to learn all they can about the world they live in. I worked in the Reading Room and throughout the school helping students improve their reading skills and helping them develop a love of reading. I also assisted with writing and special projects.
When I am not teaching, I’m enjoying the outdoors, snowshoeing, biking, running, gardening, enjoying the Acadia trails, and camping with my family. In the semester before starting at Pemetic, my husband and I and our 2 daughters, who go to Pemetic, camped around America for 5 months! Our Road School USA was an experience I recommend to everyone! Other hobbies keep me busy too, like reading, cooking, creating things in our home’s Makerspace, playing music, and helping my girls and husband with projects. In good weather, I also like driving around our family’s little fringe topped Mini Moke! Maybe you’ll see me out in it, so feel free to wave!
