For the last two years I have taught in Montessori schools, learning and practicing the philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori. She believes that practicing art is as important as learning how to read, only the range of content is expanded specifically from text–to images, sculptures, spaces, and any visuals that you might encounter on a daily basis. As a graduate of College of the Atlantic, I am excited about aiding students in blending their studies together, applying measuring skills they have learned in math to plan the proportions of a mural, or using their scientific understanding of the functions of various ecosystems to better understand a birds habits as we draw. I am most excited to develop community based installation art projects with students.
