My name is Carolyn Todd and I am the School Counselor for Pemetic Elementary (K-8th). I go into the classrooms and teach lessons on topics such as feelings, friendships, conflict resolution, digital citizenship, emotional regulation as well as many other topics. My focus is to teach children strategies that will help them become positive, proactive, problem solvers as well as provide them with ongoing strategies that can help them to become happy, successful citizens in our school and community. Some programs that I use include, The 7 Habits of Happy Kids, Conscious Discipline, Second Step as well many other programs and resources. I also work with students individually as well as in small groups.
I co-lead our Civil Rights Team. We have an active group of 6th-8th graders who meet on a regular basis and adopt projects that will teach about the protected civil rights categories encouraging an environment that is safe and welcoming to all. One of my roles as the school counselor is to serve on our Crisis Response Team. This group consists of a group of supportive individuals who meet to help establish protocols for crisis situations and to be available to other schools when a crisis happens.
On a more personal note, outside of school I tend to spend a lot of time with family and friends, going on hikes and hanging with our dogs. I love to travel, but mainly to warmer climates.
